Starting today, the new Budapest Film Academy series, Lessons from the Masters, brings those lessons to a new generation of filmmakers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budapest Film Academy launches its new Lessons from the Masters<\/strong><\/em> TikTok series today. Created for aspiring filmmakers, the series features one-minute lessons from Budapest Film Academy founder and director Jeno Hodi, who shares insights from legendary mentors including Milo\u0161 Forman, Brian De Palma, Frank Daniel, Stella Adler, and Milton Katselas, alongside lessons learned from more than 40 years in filmmaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted by Jeno Hodi<\/a><\/strong>, founder and director of Budapest Film Academy<\/strong>, the series draws on decades of experience in filmmaking, teaching, and mentoring. Jeno earned his MFA in Directing and Screenwriting at Columbia University School of the Arts, where he studied under legendary filmmakers including Milo\u0161 Forman, Brian De Palma, John G. Avildsen, Du\u0161an Makavejev,<\/strong> and Frank Daniel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that was only the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduating, Jeno built an international career as a director, screenwriter, and producer. He navigated the challenging path from financing his first feature film to achieving theatrical distribution, while continuing to work on American feature productions. His journey also led him behind the scenes of Hollywood, where he became a member of the Actors Studio Directing and Playwriting Workshop, studied at Stella Adler’s renowned acting conservatory, and trained in Milton Katselas’ legendary Master Class, learning not only directing and working with actors, but also writing, self-marketing, and surviving in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each one-minute episode focuses on a single lesson, idea, or story from one of the masters Jeno personally studied with or worked alongside. He combines their insights with his own perspective, reflecting on what more than 40 years of filmmaking<\/strong> and 15 years leading and teaching at Budapest Film Academy<\/strong> have taught him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing from his experience mentoring hundreds of aspiring filmmakers, Jeno also shares the recurring challenges he sees in new directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, and editors\u2014and the lessons that can help them avoid common mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
